Wellmark Health Plan of Iowa, Inc. has been awarded Excellent Accreditation status – for the 10th consecutive year – from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).
Excellent Accreditation status, the highest level possible, is based on the health plan’s HEDIS® (Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set) and CAHPS® (Consumer Assessment of Health Care Providers and Systems) 4.0H scores. Plans earning Excellent status have demonstrated service and clinical quality levels that meet NCQA’s rigorous requirements for consumer protection and quality improvement, and have earned HEDIS results in the highest range of national or regional performance.
“Maintaining ‘Excellent’ status for 10 years is a testament to the great job our employees and participating health care professionals have done for Wellmark Health Plan of Iowa’s 257,800 members,” says Tim Weber, the plan’s president.
In addition, Wellmark Health Plan of Iowa was ranked 79th out of 227 plans in NCQA’s Health Insurance Plan Rankings 2010-2011 – Private. The rankings of private health plans were based on combined clinical quality, member satisfaction and NCQA accreditation standards scores.
