Covering Uninsured Iowa Kids: The hawk-i Program Wellmark is a primary insurer in the Healthy and Well Kids in Iowa (hawk-i) program for low-income families.

The hawk-i program extends health care coverage to children whose families:

• are between 133 and 300 percent of the federal poverty level
• are not eligible for Medicaid
• meet other qualifications

Uninsured children eligible for coverage under the hawk-i program in all Iowa counties have Blue Access^® coverage available from Wellmark Health Plan of Iowa (WHPI). Blue Access provides:

• comprehensive coverage for services provided by in-network providers
• generic prescription drugs
• preventive care
• nationwide access through the BlueCard^® program for emergency care only
